Random Encounters Vs Respawning Enemies


After some discussion and playtesting with my programmer, the main battle feedback I got was about random encounters. They're the old school way of causing battle to take place in top-down RPGs and JRPGs. However, it can become tiresome and annoying. Since some game mechanics of mine have been inspired by the Dark Souls series, I chose to make enemies respawn whenever leaving the map they're defeated on. This way, players can avoid low-level enemies if they so choose and there will still be plenty of enemies to defeat and harvest resources from.
