Rebooting...

It's been a hectic few months.

I took a little break from the game to focus on another story I'm working on. After hitting the midpoint for that story, I decided to take a break from that. So now, I'm looking at the game again. It works like that, creative energy going from one to the other.

A while back when I released the game, I didn't get much attention. Only two people played it - the first gave me a lot good feedback, but the second basically self-promoted themselves half the time and barely paid any attention to what they were doing. The latter didn't help much, but did give me some ideas for problems I could avoid. Different players, different playstyles, different issues.

I also felt like I may have been a little too ambitious when making the game. At first, I had the idea of making an MMORPG, but for that I needed a story to get the player started. After that, I kinda lost track of the MMORPG angle and just went for a solo adventure in an open world. Turns out, not everyone can get behind the open-world angle. It might work if I go with the MMORPG, but I still need to work on the story. missions, dungeons, etc. that would push that game forward.

That's where I am right now. I'm brainstorming ideas for a new story that might make for a better game, even if shorter than intended. I'll be looking at the RPG Maker MMORPG project for ideas and see if that's the better route to go. Right now, my main focus is rebooting the original game, fixing things that didn't work, adding new things, and finding ways I can change the gameplay without scrapping all the work I put into it.

I'm going out of the country for a month this weekend, so don't expect anything huge for a bit. If anyone is listening, there will be an update by the end of the year about where this project is going.
