Chapter Two and More

A lot of plans are building up for the next phase. After finishing Chapter1, which is basically an hour-long tutorial, I figured this is the time to take a dev break.

I'm currently playing Elden Ring. Wow, what a game! I'm almost done with my first playthrough, and I think it's suffice for awhile.

I also realized I completely forgot about music for the demo, so that will have to be done next.

Next Steps:

1. I have a main quest to activate

I left weapons towards the end-tail of my development, and aside from figuring out how to do change the battler to show the weapon. Regardless, the next main quest will reward players with the ability to reinforce their weapon of choice. All they need to do is explore a cave and mine for the materials once the quest is complete.

2. New/More Maps

I currently have a good number of maps for the main village and the surrounding areas. Eventually, the player will need to leave and visit other villages, where the real story starts. That includes the mining cave and desert plains for now.

3. New Enemies

So far, the main beasts and creatures have been forest-like critters - beetles, centipedes, snakes, and spiders. Once players venture into the caves, they'll run into undead/zombies and eventually golems. The twist - the former will be ancestors once buried. What could be disturbing them or possessing their remains? And where did these golems come from?

4. The Magick System

Once players get far enough into exploring the cave, they'll find crystals that grant supernatural abilities. I'm fiddling with a "fast travel" idea. Personally, I would hate to be 10 maps away from the village, but some people like the feeling of being far from home and taking risks. Then comes the magick system, where players can equip up to two gems before battle. If they do, a whole new assortment of attacks become available. This can range from coating a weapon with fire, shooting energy blasts, or even summoning golems of your own.

5. Dev Streams?

I might stream, or just record and edit dev logs for the next phase? Maybe I'll do a stream with a chat if anyone is interested in watching the progress.
